Home Hardware – a Canadian Made Collection Online

I recently discovered that Home Hardware has a Canadian Made section on their website, and I’m very impressed by the sheer number and variety of items listed. As of March 28, it is showing some 9766 items which has increased dramatically since March 2 when it is showed only 6608 items in the Canadian made collection. The exact number of products shown may vary depending on what part of the country you are located as it is a mix of items available to order online, in store or marked to contact about availability.

Home Hardware also operates Home Building Centre, Home Hardware Building Centre and Home Furniture stores, with over 1,000 stores across Canada.

Unlike most retail chains, Home Hardware is dealer owned, meaning the local store owners actually own the parent company, effectively making it a cooperative of sorts. If you can’t find a Home Hardware in your area, they have information on how to become a Home Hardware store owner yourself.

Obviously, there is a lot of the usual hardware store stuff which is important enough as both Home Depot and Rona are American owned, but there are also quite a few things you might not expect to find like bird feeders and seed, apparel (boots, toques and socks), pet supplies, and sports and boating items.

Some key Canadian product lines are the paint and supplies including their own BeautiTone line of paints, made in Burford, Ontario, Barbeques and BBQ supplies, plants and pots, furniture and mattresses, and patio furniture. Some additional made in Canada furniture and mattresses and propane refrigerators can be found on the Home Furniture Website.

Free shipping is available on eligible items on orders of $99 so Home Hardware it can be real help in our efforts to shop Canadian.
